New automatic manual Easy-R transmission

In response to growing demand, Dacia has added automatic manual Easy-R transmission to its range for the very first time.

This new design of this transmission uses electromechanical instead of hydraulic technology for enhanced flexibility and swifter response, while the number of components has been reduced by around 25 percent in order to deliver greater reliability and simplify servicing. To ensure the best possible quality, Dacia’s automatic manual Easy-R transmission underwent 130,000 hours of bench testing plus a total of 120,000km of road testing, and all units are inspected as they come off the line.

Automated manual Easy-R transmission was conceived for optimal driving pleasure, particularly in built-up areas and congested traffic. Gear shits are automatic and free of jarring. Meanwhile, of particular interest in slow-moving traffic or when manoeuvring, the system also allows motorists to move forward at slow speed simply by lifting off the brake pedal.

Use of Easy-R transmission is intuitive and easy to learn. An automatic-type lever allows one of four modes – D (Drive), N (Neutral), R (Reverse ) and M (Manual) – to be selected and the chosen mode is indicated on the dashboard:. The Manual mode allows the driver to resume full control of gear changes, an appreciable feature in situations where additional engine braking is required, for example. When parking, activation of the hand brake suffices to engage a gear.

Affordable
Automatic manual Easy-R transmission is less expensive than a conventional automatic gearbox and costs just €600 mated to the TCe 90 petrol engine. It is coupled with Stop&Start to ensure the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions levels of a manual transmission and less than those of a conventional automatic. The system also comes with an ECO mode for even more economical motoring.
