TestAmerica to Present the National Environmental Monitoring Conference

WEBWIRE

The National Environmental Monitoring Conference (NEMC) will be held July 13-17, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois.  NEMC provides the principal forum for addressing policy and technical issues affecting monitoring in all environmental media (i.e., water, air, soil, and waste) and across all environmental programs.  The technical program is organized by a committee of environmental experts from government, academia, and private industry and brings together a balance of technical and policy topics for each year’s symposium that are of interest to all segments of the environmental industry.

TestAmerica, the leader in environmental testing, embraces the goal of supporting development of industry professionals, continuous improvement and the sharing of technical knowledge on emerging and pertinent topics.  In support of this goal, TestAmerica is providing five presentations over the duration of the NEMC conference:

  • Pitfalls of Using Non-Standard Standards by Dr. Mark Bruce, Corporate Technical Director
  • Surfacing & Solving Problems: Data Mining for Continuous Improvement by Ms. Maria Friedman, Quality Assurance Manager
  • Working with the New MDL by Dr. Richard Burrows, Corporate Technical Director
  • Changes to the Chemistry Standard by Dr. Richard Burrows, Corporate Technical Director
  • Performance Characteristics of Different Sample Preparation Methods by Dr. Richard Burrows, Corporate Technical Director

Dr. Mark Bruce serves as TestAmerica’s resident technical expert for method development and modification.  Recently, Dr. Bruce led advancements in the field of Incremental Sampling Methodology (ISM), a technique which allows for the collection of soil samples that specifically represent predefined sections of a site with less uncertainty than ordinarily achieved with discrete sampling.  Ms. Friedman has more than 25 years of experience managing Quality Assurance programs for air, soil and water.  Ms. Friedman has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and recently obtained her Green Belt certification in Lean/Six Sigma.  Dr. Richard Burrows has been actively involved with environmental methods and techniques through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL) organizations. He is currently Chair of the TNI Chemistry Expert Committee, and is a two time recipient of the ACIL Preston Millar Award.
