HackerRank Announces DbRank: The First Tool for Screening and Hiring the Best Database Programmers, Business Analysts, and Data Scientists

Today, HackerRank , the technical talent platform used by over one million programmers to sharpen coding skills and by thousands of companies to recruit tech talent, announces the launch of DbRank , the best way to hire the most talented database experts. The new product continues HackerRank’s mission of connecting companies with talented hires regardless of a candidate’s location or background.

“We created DbRank with direct feedback from some of our biggest customers who needed a variety of positions related to databases,” said Vivek Ravisankar, CEO and co-founder of HackerRank . “In response to a void in the market, we created a completely new database screening environment that gives anyone with skill managing databases a shot at getting a job at a great company.”

Optimal databases power great software and also help companies parse through the unprecedented amount of data created each day by customers. Skilled database experts boost a company’s bottom line by unearthing patterns from properly stored and analyzed customer data. Finding qualified hires to create and manage these databases is harder than ever with The McKinsey Global Institute predicting a market shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 people capable of analyzing and working with big data and databases by 2018.

DbRank is the first tool dedicated to assessing and hiring employees skilled in some of the most popular database languages and offers out of the box functionality with built-in database programming challenges, as well as support for the industries top database platforms: Oracle, IBM DB2, MySQL, and MSSQL. Replacing the old whiteboarding approach, customers define real databases, with tables and data, and candidates run real-time database queries that are auto-scored for accuracy, which can also be reviewed in depth by hiring managers. This helps companies find a candidate’s true skill earlier and faster in the hiring process.
