NICKEL BRUSH PLATING can produce superior quality plating with a depth as thin as .0001 inch without post machining.  A majority of SELECTIVE PLATING applications are requested between the depths of .0005 and .002.  However, much greater depths of plating can be achieved with SELECTIVE PLATING w/o any loss of quality.  The only real limitation to thickness is economic consideration.

NICKEL PLATING produces superior results by atomically bonding electoplates to host material. The process does not require preheating or post-heating, thus avoiding elevated temperature induced stress. SELECTIVE PLATING also avoids other problems that are common to most repair processes such as induced porosity, improper mechanical bonding, hydrogen embrittlement and removal of host material which weakens the component.

SELECTIVE PLATING is applied to localized areas - only where needed.  A graphite anode is fabricated to fit the exact area where plating is required (based on diameter and width).  This exact fit makes SELECTIVE PLATING an ideal solution for design configurations that make other forms of metal deposition impossible to apply (ed, bearding journal adjacent to electrical windings).  Solutions used in the SELECTIVE PLATING process have metal content 10 to 50 times higher than solutions used in tank plating.  This allows SELECTIVE PLATING to utilize significantly higher amperes per square inch which results in rapid plating and superior bonding.  Only small amounts of solutions are used, making it much easier to process them in an environmentally responsible way.
