PicsArt Integrates With Google’s Places API for iOS and Android to Enable its Community of Creatives to Geotag 250M Images Per Month

PicsArt , the largest mobile creative image community, today announced it has integrated with Google’s new Places API to enable quick and precise image geotagging capabilities, making it easier for users to discover, share and engage with interesting content based on their location. PicsArt also announced it has integrated with Google’s App Invites widget, now launched in beta, which allows users to invite their friends via email or SMS to download PicsArt.  

PicsArt previously used a mixture of location-based suggestions to enable geotagging, many of which were not optimized for mobile. Now with Google Places API for iOS and Android, PicsArt has full stack search and location suggestions without limitations, making it the first mobile photo app to market with that functionality. Users can tag images from Google’s database of more than 100 million places worldwide, or add a custom location, and engage with other PicsArt users present at the same location. Users can also search for the location they want to tag, or use one of the automatic suggestions based on current location.
