IBTTA’s Maintenance & Roadway Operations Workshop, May 31-June 2, 2015, The Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City, OK

WEBWIRE

WHAT
Moving people quickly and safely across our nation’s roads in the most efficient and effective manner has become a national challenge. Solving this challenge requires using the country’s best practices, latest technologies and finest professional resources.

Transportation leaders will gather to share information on how to do just that at the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association’s Maintenance & Roadway Operations Workshop: Where the Rubber Meets the Road, to be held at The Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City from May 31 to June 2, 2015.

The three-day conference includes professional development sessions featuring top transportation leaders in the U.S., including the Oklahoma Secretary of Transportation and the executive director of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, a technical tour to showcase a number of projects by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA), and a service project providing meeting attendees an opportunity to give back to the local community. This year’s effort will benefit White Fields, a nonprofit organization founded in 2000 that cares for abused and neglected boys in the custody of the state of Oklahoma.

The conference also spotlights the implications of insufficient transportation funding in the face of higher state and federal requirements, the proper custodial care of assets, and practical and innovative ways to leverage resources in a tighter fiscal climate.

Specific workshop topics will focus on sharing Oklahoma’s best practices, using social and new media, leveraging weather information, understanding the latest information in pavement and structures, partnering with universities, learning about asset management, learning how to best protect the public, understanding traffic management advancement, and sharing information about incident management and incident response.
