Fourteen U.S. Habitat for Humanity affiliates recognized for their innovation, leadership and impact

Fourteen Habitat for Humanity affiliates were selected as “Affiliates of Distinction” during Habitat’s biennial U.S. Affiliate Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
Fourteen Habitat for Humanity affiliates were selected as “Affiliates of Distinction” during Habitat’s biennial U.S. Affiliate Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

Habitat for Humanity International named 14 “Affiliates of Distinction” for their achievements in serving the affordable housing needs of their local communities during Habitat’s biennial U.S. Affiliate Conference. “These Habitat affiliates have demonstrated outstanding leadership and innovation in engaging their communities and addressing the affordable housing needs of low-income families in the areas they serve,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “We are honored to celebrate their successes. Their efforts inspire us all to work harder toward our shared vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”

  • Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County (Indiana)

  • Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity (Wisconsin)
  • Our Towns of North Mecklenburg-Iredell County (North Carolina)
  • Portland/East Metro Habitat for Humanity (Oregon)

Launched in 2013, recipients maintain their recognition for two years, after which they reapply for the following award period.

Habitat affiliates considered for the honor were reviewed by seven criteria: sustainable and green building; overall organizational leadership; community development; financial sustainability; alignment with Habitat for Humanity’s strategic plan; effective use of technology to better communication with the public; and support for Habitat’s global mission.
