“Dr. Taghreed takes a whole new perspective on language classes in her new book: “the Anxious Language Learner.” When students enter the classroom, educators generally focus on performance than qualifying obstacles that might detract from their overall understanding. Performance anxiety can be one of the most detrimental afflictions, even for the brightest students. By zeroing in on this stumbling block, Taghreed gives students the skills they need to truly succeed and meet their goals.”
“Dr. Taghreed Alsaraj’s story is nothing short of inspirational. Her tenacity and motivation when it pertains to education is summed up in her father’s military tone when he said “if you’re not dying, you’re going.” Ever after, she was committed to learning. This is where language-learning anxiety comes in. All too often, educators demand high performance without tackling root causes for struggling students. Taghreed exposes the anxiety that comes with learning a new language, and teaches students how to grow past the fear of messing up. Very nice!”
