Young innovators selected to participate at the IDB-IIC Annual Meeting in Korea


As part of the activities of the IDB-IIC Annual Meeting taking place in Busan, Korea, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has invited eleven young entrepreneurs to participate in a dialogue with President Luis Alberto Moreno to discuss how through innovation and technology they are creating solutions to development challenges.

The participating innovators are from Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, Korea, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago, and Uruguay. They were selected based on how their startups are improving lives and the potential of being replicated or adapted to other regions.

They are all under the age of 35.

Solutions range from patient empowerment and education, environmental protection, farming, multimedia to a communication interface for people with disabilities. The entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to share about their work and vision in short presentations, followed by a dialogue with President Moreno.

The invited innovators are:

Argentina: Agu de Marco, cofounder of an intuitive online tool to create and share animated videos for education and for businesses. (

Barbados: Shannon Clarke, cofounder of MediRevu a mobile health solution that helps patients manage diabetes and communicate with their health care professional. (

Brazil: Carlos Pereira, founder and developer of Livox an app that allows users with physical and cognitive disabilities to communicate and engage with others. (

Colombia: Carolina Medina, cofounder of Sokotext a service that via mobile phones allows small stores and vendors purchase products in bulk and distribute to consumers at discounted prices. (

Haiti: Sephora Pierre-Louis, founder of FormatAide, a training center for micro and small sized business to enable them to lead and grow their ventures. (

Korea: April Kim, founder of Chatting Cat a web based English correction service that connects non-native speakers with native speakers to edit their work and school papers. (

Korea: Ted Kim, founder of wearable devices that enhance the quality of life for people by helping them watch their posture and walk properly to prevent injuries. (

Korea: Hyungsoo Kim, cofounder of Tree Planet a virtual tree planting game that allows players to have real trees to be planted around the world via local partnerships. (

Mexico: Daniel Gomez, cofounder of Solben the leading innovator in biofuel production in Mexico. (

Trinidad and Tobago: Wesley Gervais, cofounder of Hivesource, an online platform for English speaking Caribbean free lancers to post, discover and choose projects where to work. (

Uruguay: Victoria Alonsoperez, cofounder of IEETech developers of Chipsafer, a platform that can track and detect early anomalies of cattle in an autonomous, continuous and remote way. (
