The websites states that Nigeria’s military overpowered the rebels in the Adamawa state capital Mubi and the village of Vintim as well as in the Borno state town of Baga.

Jonathan’s visit to all three towns will come as a boost to locals who face the constant threat of Boko Haram, but are sure to be feeling more secure in the wake of the army’s successes.

The report says that Jonathan travelled with his own security team and spoke with a number of other military personnel in the region ahead of this month’s presidential elections on 28 February.
