Seattle, WA – WEBWIRE

Global asset manager Russell Investments recently earned its fourth consecutive CIO Magazine Industry Innovation Award. Specifically, Russell was recognized in the asset servicing category for its continued commitment to, and success in, transition management (TM) in 2014.

Russell’s TM service was honored by the CIO editorial team in conjunction with an advisory board composed of asset owners. According to CIO, this year’s winners represent those service providers—including consultants, hedge funds, transition managers and more—who deliver innovative ideas, strong performance, and trustworthy advice to institutional investors worldwide.

“This significant award demonstrates industry recognition of our ongoing commitment and success in servicing and retaining TM clients through our client-centric pure agency model,” said Travis Bagley, director, Transition Management, at Russell. “For us, this means working closely with our clients to understand their multi-asset investment goals and then ensuring that we do all we can to meet and where possible exceed those goals.”

According to CIO, one of Russell’s nominators said the following about their experience with Russell’s TM team: “Russell services their clients to death, and once they get their teeth into a client they rarely lose them.”

Russell Investments, which traded a calendar-year record US$1.6 trillion in 2013 through its global implementation services business, recently expanded its global transition management team by hiring two addition implementation portfolio managers. Alexandre (Alex) Martin joined the transition team in London from Societe Generale, where he was responsible for managing complex multi-asset trades. Richard Palmer joined the Sydney team, bringing similar experience, having previously worked as an arbitrage/multi-strategy trader at Macquarie/Nedbank joint venture, followed by various consultant roles.

“We are very pleased that Alex and Richard have joined our global team, providing us with additional capacity to serve the ever growing client demand for our implementation capabilities,” said Steve Kirschner, Managing Director and Global Head of Russell’s Transition Management business.
