San Mateo County Fair Received 20 Western Fairs Association Achievement Awards for the Third Consecutive Year

San Mateo County Fair is proud to announce that they have been awarded 20 Achievement Awards from Western Fairs Association (WFA), the third consecutive year for the Fair to place in the WFA awards program. The Achievement Awards program included entries from over 30 fairs across the Western United States. T

hese awards recognize excellence and their primary purpose is to promote the highest possible professional standards of the fair industry and its programming.The entry process for the Achievement Awards occurred upon completion of the 2014 fair season. San Mateo County Fair submitted various marketing pieces, management techniques, and innovative ideas to WFA to be judged by a panel of Fair experts and industry peers. As a result, the 2014 Fair won six 1st’s, nine 2nd’s, and five 3rd’s.

The fair staff is honored to receive these prestigious awards and shares their accomplishment with all of those who have collaborated and coordinated with the Fair to make it a success. San Mateo County Fair staff received the awards at this year’s Western Fairs Association Convention: “Elevate” in mid-January. According to Chris Carpenter, SVP and General Manager of the San Mateo County Event Center, “We’re very proud of the Fair staff and team and that they are receiving recognition from the WFA, a distinguished organization. We are committed to improving our Fair guest experience even more in 2015.”

Below is a complete list of the awards won for the 2014 San Mateo County Fair: • 1st Place – Fair-time Website, Outdoor Advertising, Any Other Advertising Piece, Exhibits Competition, Employee Recognition, Retention or Hiring, and New Innovative Use of Technology.• 2nd Place – Electronic Newsletter, Exhibits Display Method or Prop, New Featured Event, Exhibit or Program, New Children’s Program, New Conservation Program or Being Green, New Agricultural Program, Volunteers, Crisis Management, and Inspiring Collaborations.• 3rd Place – Printed Newsletter, Single Radio Ad, E-Blast, Black and White Newspaper Ad, and Sponsorship.
