Adobe Announces Leadership Changes in India

Dr. Naresh Gupta to Leave Adobe after 19 Years

San Jose, CA – WEBWIRE

Adobe today announced that Dr. Naresh Gupta, senior vice president, Print and Publishing and managing director, Adobe India, will be leaving the company at the end of March. Gupta built a world-class research and development capability in India, comprising more than 3,000 employees across two sites, Bangalore and Noida, and contributing to engineering across all of Adobe’s businesses.

“Naresh Gupta has played a key role in shaping Adobe’s technology and global business strategy and has built a world-class R&D operation in India,” said Shantanu Narayen, president and CEO, Adobe. “I am thankful for the innovation and leadership Naresh has contributed during his 19 years here and wish him well as he pursues his next adventure.”

“Leaving Adobe has been the toughest decision of my life; the company is growing and is going through the strongest period I’ve seen in my career here. However, I am excited to pursue my passion for entrepreneurship in financial markets,” said Gupta.

Gupta joined Adobe in 1996 and founded Adobe’s R&D operation in India in 1997, originally in Noida and later adding Bangalore through Adobe’s acquisition of Macromedia in 2005.  In addition to his leadership of the India R&D operation, he has led Adobe’s Print and Publishing business unit, overseeing product marketing and development for Adobe’s print, Web publishing and eLearning tools such as Adobe eLearning Suite and Adobe Technical Communication Suite software. This organization serves a broad and established base of customers who are publishing content on paper, electronically or on the Web.

Following Gupta’s transition, the Print and Publishing business unit will report to Adobe’s executive vice president of field operations, Matt Thompson. Other local product teams will report directly into their respective Adobe business units.

“India remains a very strategic innovation site for us and we expect to continue our strong investment in the country,” said Narayen. “We will unveil new research facilities in both Noida and Bangalore this spring to support our future growth.”
