Deutsche Post and Eurotours launch joint travel offer

* "Post Reisen" offers individual vacation packages and attractive city tours
* Current trend sees Germans travelling more frequently and booking more often on short notice from homeGrowth potential in online booking in the travel industry

Deutsche Post is going into the tourism business. Together with Eurotours, a renowned international tourism enterprise, Deutsche Post now offers its customers individual and attractive vacation packages. Eurotours will act as the tour operator in this cooperation. Under a single brand name - “Post Reisen” - customers will find a wide variety of holiday travel and city tour packages as well as adventure trips and cruises. Special focus is placed on holiday destinations in Germany and the neighboring Alps regions. The Deutsche Post Postbus will be used for bus tours within Germany. “Post Reisen” is a direct sales travel offer, meaning vacation packages can be booked conveniently from home via the Internet or by calling the Eurotours Post Reisen Call Center. Customers benefit from low prices, which are made possible because “Post Reisen” sells directly to end customers.

Achim Dünnwald, CEO Mail Communication at Deutsche Post, explains: “Customers have always associated Deutsche Post with reliability, quality and good value for money. And they are right. The fact that in just a short time we have established our Postbus as the quality leader in the German long-distance bus market proves it. Now we are expanding the portfolio to offer our customers attractive and affordable tours that are easy to select and book. We think this segment of the tourism market has high growth potential.”

Eurotours CEO Hans-Dieter Toth sees a lot of potential in the new joint venture: “We are pleased that Deutsche Post is placing trust in our expertise to expand their travel business.” Eurotours considers now the right time to launch this new offer. “On the one hand, the Germans, who already travel a lot, are travelling more, whereby the trend is toward more last-minute bookings. On the other, direct sales numbers continues to rise. Furthermore, customers are also looking online for a reliable tour operator that offers top quality and the best service at attractive prices,” says Toth.

According to the German Travel Association (DRV), Germans are the world’s travel champions. They spend around €64.9 billion per year on foreign travel and roughly €69.7 billion on domestic travel. The share of online bookings of all-inclusive packages is around 15 percent of all booked travel, and the trend is up sharply. According to the 44th travel analysis (Reiseanalyse) for ITB 2014, 42 percent booked their travel in 2013 as all-inclusive or modular to work packages.

The two partners complement each other perfectly: Deutsche Post, Europe’s largest mail services operator and market leader in the German mail and parcel market, is one of the most well-known brands in Germany. The company will provide its expertise in dialogue marketing to raise awareness of “Post Reisen” all across Germany. In addition, Deutsche Post has established itself in the travel market with the ADAC Postbus. Eurotours has 35 years of experience in the travel industry. With around 1.3 million customers per year, the company is one of the largest tour operators in direct sales in Central Europe. Moreover, Eurotours has established a leading position in the European tourism market through high-value and affordable travel offers as well as outstanding customer satisfaction rates of more than 97 percent.
