University of Central Florida Wins Collegiate Cybersecurity Championship Cup

San Antonio, Texas, USA – WEBWIRE

The University of Central Florida was awarded the 2014 Collegiate Cybersecurity Championship Cup during a ceremony held at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences.  The Cup is awarded on an annual basis to the college or university that demonstrates a record of excellence in cybersecurity-based competitions.

“The Cybersecurity Championship Cup program is designed to encourage collegiate participation in all cybersecurity-based competitions – not just specific events,” said Dr. Gregory White, Director of the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security.  “The program is similar to the FedEx or Sprint Cups – teams gain points for participation and placement in disparate cybersecurity competitions.  Competitions are weighted based on a number of factors such as geographic scope, number of teams, team size, and technical level of the competition.”

The Cybersecurity Championship Cup program (http://collegiatecybercup.org/) is managed by the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (http://cias.utsa.edu/) at the University of Texas at San Antonio and is supported through a grant from the Cyber Security Division of the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (http://www.dhs.gov/science-and-technology/cyber-security-division).
