BOSTON, MA. December 18, 2014- The Marble Collection (TMC), nonprofit publisher of the “Massachusetts High School Magazine of the Arts,” announced the recent $5,000 Patron Sponsorship of GDT Northeast. The sponsorship supports the production and distribution of the publication, the only statewide print and online magazine of the arts that features jury-selected artwork, prose, poetry, photography, and music by students in grades eight through 12. It also ensures that TMC can continue to offer its Student Mentoring Workshop. The workshop partners teen writers and artists with college student mentors who guide their work to publication at no cost to under-resourced schools across the state.

“The creative arts give birth to creative thinkers, and these thinkers are our future workforce,” said Allan Wilayto, GDT senior account manager. “We are more than happy to do our part in the support of these students and this organization that empowers them during their endeavor for excellence in this creative education process.”

The GDT sponsorship champions twenty Massachusetts high schools: Abington High School, Amherst High School, Auburn High School, Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School, Burlington High School, Everett High School, Gann Academy, Groton School, Groton-Dunstable Regional, Malden High School, Masconomet Regional, Nauset Regional, Newton North High School, Sutton High School, Taunton High School, Waltham High School, Wayland High School, Westford Academy, Whitman Hanson Regional, and Xaverian Brothers High School. During the current academic year, TMC plans to collaborate with 200 schools and community groups to publish and mentor 100 teen artists and writers.

“Making a difference for local communities has been our mission since the first day we opened our doors. We’re proud to make a difference in cities and towns we live and work in,” says Middlesex President & Chief Executive Officer John Heerwagen.

About The Marble Collection [TMC]
The Marble Collection, Inc. [TMC], a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization, publishes the only Massachusetts statewide print and online magazine of the arts featuring jury-selected artwork, writing, poetry, photography, and music by students in grades 8 to 12. TMC also offers e-Mentoring workshops in which teen writers and artists are partnered with college student mentors who help them refine their voices and guide their work to publication. At a time when budget cuts and an emphasis on standardized testing mean that fewer teens in Massachusetts have access to the arts, TMC collaborates with 200 Massachusetts schools and community groups to publish and mentor 100 teen writers and artists each school year.
