New anti-snack gum set to put a bulge in weight loss retailer’s profits

With a market already up to $60 billion annually, the diet industry happily welcomed Hoodia Gordonii when it was discovered that this humble succulent from Southern Africa naturally made the user eat less.

With sales of Hoodia quickly growing year on year, the methods of taking Hoodia have been growing as well, pills, capsules, patches, tea, tincture ... and on.

Now using a unique and patent pending process, one company has found a way to offer consumers Hoodia in a gum.

“We wanted to produce a Hoodia product that was convenient, could be taken anywhere at anytime, and that specifically helped people to stop snacking” says Dietary Formulae Inc CEO Paul Pearson. “The majority of Hoodia products out there tackle overeating at meal times and may not always be right for those people who are overweight due to excessive snacking”.

It took several months tracking down a company who could process Hoodia in to gum form while still keeping it effective. Then there were months of trials to formulate the right ingredients to make it palatable.

Finally, earlier this year, the gum was put into production, and bulk buyers approached to package and wholesale out the gum to the wholesale and retail market.

Now the first of these has launched a range of different Hoodia gum pack sizes, counter displays, and other marketing material. Actively seeking wholesalers, those getting involved now look set to be in on the ground floor of the next Hoodia development as Hoodia chewing gum becomes known to the general public.
