UpWest Labs Unveils Details of Its Eighth Batch of Startups, Ranging From Genetics to 3D Design

UpWest Labs, the leading U.S. accelerator that brings aspiring Israeli early-stage companies to Silicon Valley, today reveals seven new startups that have come to Palo Alto to take part in its four-month program. The companies in this eighth batch represent UpWest Labs’ most diverse group yet, ranging from genetics to 3D design, and language learning to cloud infrastructure. The program caps off a stellar year for UpWest Labs as alumni rack up follow-on investments and acquisitions. All seven class members presented as part of an UpWest Labs investor-only event on November 10th, 2014.

UpWest Labs continues to support innovative entrepreneurs and companies with this latest class of companies, which include:

• Codefresh - Complete development environment in the cloud that enables agile and DevOps teams to focus on coding. Codefresh automates common & time-consuming procedures such as environment setup, complex git flow support, and others.

• FirstImpression - Increases publisher revenues by optimizing ad yield through dynamic ad placements. FirstImpression placements are automatically created based on the unique layout of every page and real-time demand.

• Genoox - Big Data platform for managing genetic data in the cloud and helping medical experts to provide genetic diagnostics and personalized treatments to their patients rapidly and accurately.

• Immersia - Learn new languages through a fun, interactive mobile gaming experience, leveraging story-based game situations that mimic real life.  

• SecuredTouch - Behavioral security for enterprise mobility management that analyzes each users unique usage behavior. SecuredTouch takes security beyond the login.

• UMake  (www.umake.xyz) - Design in 3D with a powerful and beautifully intuitive tool for iPad that caters to both experienced designers as well as hobbyists.

• Xyrosoft  (www.xyrosoft.com) - Integrate large-scale data in real-time between NoSQL and traditional relational databases.

2014 has been a marque year for the two-year-old accelerator, as it passed $50 million in follow-on funding for its portfolio, bolstered by recent Series A rounds for  Honeybook ($10M) and SentinelOne ($12M). UpWest Labs also tallied three new exits, with Gartner acquiring Senexx, Priceline acquiring Qlika, and Google acquiring SlickLogin. Finally, UpWest Labs companies raise north of $1M in seed funding, on average, with over 70 percent of its companies receiving follow-on seed funding after the program.
