Medtronic of Canada Recognized as One of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2015 - for the Fifth Year Running

Medtronic of Canada Ltd., a trusted Canadian leader in innovative medical technologies and health system solutions, is pleased to have been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2015, for the fifth year in a row.  Medtronic’s employee engagement initiatives, philanthropic activities, and a top tier benefits package, are among some of the many reasons Medtronic is considered a top employer.

Medtronic of Canada fosters a corporate culture that allows for job satisfaction and security, advancement opportunities, and ways for employees to share in the company’s success.  The company offers tuition subsidies for employees and their children, and a top tier benefits package, which includes excellent pension and stock-purchase plans.   “When you invest in your employees, it pays back in their engagement,” says Neil Fraser, who was appointed president in 2004 and just celebrated his 30th anniversary with the company.  It’s the company’s mission of alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life, however, that particularly resonate with employees.

“Employees are drawn to Medtronic because of our strong mission and they play an active role in putting that mission into motion through various philanthropic and volunteer activities.” says André Guérin, Director of Human Resources.    During the company’s all-employee meeting in June, over 200 employees teamed together and spent the afternoon distributing random acts of kindness within the community.  Teams were created to “Pay It Forward” and employees found numerous ways to make a difference.  From serving the homeless throughout the city, buying supplies for a community shelter, to planting a community garden with a local school, the event was highly memorable and impactful.  Over 2,600 individuals were impacted that afternoon, and the project also resulted in Medtronic of Canada winning a $10,000 IMPACT Grant for the charity of their choice, given by Medtronic Philanthropy.  Over the past year, close to $200,000 has been raised through employee initiative campaigns in Canada.

This is the fifth year in a row that Medtronic of Canada has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, and builds on the recognition it received in April as one of Canada’s Best Large Workplaces for 2014 (for the fourth time). Since 2011, Medtronic has ranked as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and a Top Employer in the GTA, and was named Best Employer for New Canadians in 2012 by Media Corp. It has also ranked one of the Best Workplaces for Women in Canada and one of the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces by the Great Place to Work Institute in 2011.
