Firm’s 50-Employee Milestone Underlines North West’s Vast Business Potential

We take pride in our local roots and employees, and hope that we can continue to grow and support the local Skelmersdale community

Direct365, a local business based in Skelmersdale, recently hit the 50 employee mark, and shows no sign of slowing down throughout the rest of 2014 and into the future. Employing the 50th team member represented a significant milestone for Direct365, considering less than 5 years ago they were operating from a small office in Tarleton with fewer than 10 staff. Moving to Skelmersdale in April 2013 has really supported their expansion, with better business plans and access to a great pool of talent in the North West area.

The recession has undoubtedly taken its toll on British businesses over the past few years, but many firms in the North West have hung in there, emerging from the financial crisis in a surprisingly healthy position. Britain’s economy is predicted to expand further in the next year and SMEs in the North West will play a vital role in this. With proposed new infrastructure developments - such as High Speed 2, a state-of-the-art railway that will cut journeys between Manchester and London to little more than an hour, as well as planned upgrades of the M6 - this part of the country will be increasingly viewed as a national, or even international, business hub.

Direct365 are typical of the resilience that North West businesses have shown in the past six years or so, as the firm continues to grow year-on-year, creating more jobs in the area. Providing essential products to other small businesses around the UK, Direct365 have their feet firmly planted in the SME market. Their success, they say, comes from a keen understanding of their market and customers. In growing from a Micro business to employing more than 50 local people, Direct365 say that they have gained valuable experience to support their customers who are also small and medium businesses.

We take pride in our local roots and employees, and hope that we can continue to grow and support the local Skelmersdale community, whether that is achieved through continuing to create more jobs in the area, or organising more fundraisers and charity days for the community,” commented Sam Tinsley, General Manager.

The importance of gaining 50+ employees signifies a milestone for Direct365 in Lancashire, as a large majority of their staff live in the Skelmersdale area, or the surrounding Liverpool, Ormskirk or Wigan areas. With the strong transport links to the M6 and M58, commuting from as far as Preston and Warrington is much easier than it once was.
