As Seen on NBC’s Today Show, Health-e-Station Employs TANDBERG Videoconferencing to Bring Virtual Healthcare to the Suburbs

NEW YORK, Aug. 25, 2006 – TANDBERG® (OSLO: TAA.OL) is proud to recognize Health-e-Station for its groundbreaking use of videoconferencing to improve patient access to convenient, effective healthcare.

Imagine you wake up on Saturday morning suspecting that you have yet another sinus infection, or your child suddenly breaks out with an alarming rash. In the past, medical treatment outside of regular doctor’s hours has been limited to telephone advice from nurses or pharmacists, or late-night trips to the hospital emergency room, a costly and time-consuming inconvenience.

Now, with the power of TANDBERG videoconferencing, patients with minor conditions can visit Health-e-Station for after-hours and weekend diagnosis and care. With coffee shop charm and information-filled shelves lining the walls, patients are greeted, vitals and general information are taken and within minutes, patients are seated face-to-face with an onscreen physician in a real-time videoconference.

“Health-e-Station is the first in the nation to bring telemedicine to the consumer level by creating a ’virtual walk-in doctor visit,’ ” said Robert Russell, CEO of Health-e-Station.

During a diagnosis at a Health-e-Station facility, a qualified medical assistant working under the doctor’s instructions and supervision may undertake activities such as applying an electronic stethoscope or positioning a specialized camera to view a patient’s throat. Images and data are transmitted in real-time to the attending physician. Patients are also able to see exactly what the doctor sees on the split screen display.

Less than 30 minutes after walking in the door, the doctor completes the diagnosis and can prescribe necessary medication from any 24-hour pharmacy, speeding treatment and recovery.

“The face-to-face encounters with physicians via videoconferencing make healthcare visits with highly qualified physicians readily available to anyone. It means we can offer better healthcare services to our patients,” said Dr. Andrew Agwunobi, chairman of Health-e-Station.

“TANDBERG’s videoconferencing solutions have enhanced patient care by ensuring that healthcare providers can bring the right medical expertise to bear quickly and effectively. Health-e-Station is an excellent example of how video is being used to deliver improved patient care,” said Rick Snyder, president of TANDBERG.

The first of many Health-e-Stations opened in the Braelinn Village shopping center in Peachtree City, Georgia. Health-e-Station also plans to approach national chains to serve as a better alternative to the current influx of “in-store” clinics staffed by nurse-practitioners. In contrast to current models, Health-e-Station in-store clinics would provide board-certified physician care and would occupy minimal space.
