CDP Ranks UPS in Top Ten Percent of Companies Measured for Sustainability Efforts

UPS makes CDLI with a score of 100 out of 100

Atlanta – WEBWIRE

UPS® (NYSE: UPS) announced it secured a top ranking on the CDP’s Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) of Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 companies for the fourth consecutive year. With a score of 100 out of 100, UPS ranked among the top ten percent of companies measured and one of only 14 to receive a score of 100.

The annual index showcases companies listed on the S&P 500 that have demonstrated a high level of transparency and data quality in their disclosure of climate-related information. Sixty-three S&P 500 companies are featured in the 2014 CDLI.

“This year, being among the first U.S. companies to adopt the Global Reporting Initiative’s new comprehensive level of reporting further advanced UPS’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its business decisions,” said Rhonda Clark, UPS chief sustainability officer. “It’s another way to hold our company to the highest standard of transparency and disclosure. This recognition by one of the world’s most respected organizations evaluating environmental performance affirms the success of UPS’s dedicated sustainability efforts.”

UPS continues to assert its leadership in sustainability and best practices. Earlier this year, UPS was honored with several other sustainability distinctions, including: recognition as one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” by Ethisphere Institute for the eighth year; being named among the “Best Global Green Brands” by Interbrand for the fourth year; and CR Magazine added UPS to their “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list for the fifth consecutive year.

The CDP honor follows the release of UPS’s 2013 Corporate Sustainability Report, which highlights UPS’s sustainability efforts. UPS views sustainability reporting as a valuable tool for customers, investors and other stakeholders to evaluate the performance and commitment of a company to truly sustainable business practices.
