McAfee, part of Intel Security, today announced the appointment of Scott Lovett to the position of head of worldwide sales, signifying the company’s commitment to protecting customers’ critical business data and operations across all key enterprise attack vectors. Lovett will report directly to Michael DeCesare, president of McAfee, and lead the global sales team.

“Security is an increasingly critical topic in the boardrooms and meeting rooms of every enterprise, from retail and health, to finance, energy, and government—and with good reason,” said Michael DeCesare, president at McAfee. “But security solutions must align to the operational profile of each unique business or institution. Scott brings a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that come with addressing the urgent security needs of the world’s largest and most diverse organizations.”

Lovett has served more than 20 years in senior sales positions at top technology companies. He comes to McAfee from Cisco, where he has held pivotal sales leadership positions in the Collaboration Architecture, Enterprise, Public Sector, and Service Provider organizations since 1994.

Most recently, Lovett served as Cisco’s vice president of worldwide security sales where he defined and led the organization’s go-to-market and route-to-market strategy for Cisco’s security architecture. Responsibilities included working with multiple business functions including Cisco’s engineering development teams, customer advocacy, and numerous eco-system partners to develop solutions for Cisco’s enterprise sales organization and channel partners. Lovett was also a member of a core team that led the acquisition and integration of Sourcefire into Cisco’s sales processes.

Lovett is known for being a versatile leader with a passion for growth. He is recognized as a strategic problem solver repeatedly selected to adapt organizations to meet rapidly evolving business needs, a key requirement in the security industry.

“The need to quickly spot and pre-empt advanced threats demands that security be built into every device and every back-end system, while enabling the technologies of tomorrow,” said Lovett. “To ensure security is an enabler, we must help customers upgrade overtaxed, obsolete infrastructures, from the endpoint to the network, and change security from being an add-on afterthought to a future-ready, strategic posture that is ubiquitous and integrated.”

Prior to joining Cisco, Lovett held numerous technical and sales roles at Lightstream Corporation, Memorex Telex and Ungermann-Bass.
