Daniel Corby prepares to launch 118mobile – a mobile phone operation focussed on the small business markets

Daniel Corby, founder and CEO of 118 Group has announced plans to roll out a new business under the 118mobile brand – launching in October and focussing on the sme sector and being a connector for 3g.

Speaking about the announcement, Daniel Corby said “I am very excited about the opportunities that 118mobile will bring to the 118group. 118 Group was founded in 2005 and has in excess of 50,000 customers – 90% of which are small business owners. I believe that 118mobile is in a very strong position to capitalise on the opportunities that the small business sector brings us. We have chosen to outsource fulfilment and distribution to one of the UK leaders which will allow us to focus on customer sign up and connections. We have plans to be one of the largest connectors for 3 in the sme sector within 18 months from launch. Our customer proposition will be simple, with a focus on 2 or 3 tariffs and 2 or 3 handsets. The mobile market place is a confusing one and we aim to bring clarity to the arena and this clarity will be a strong driver for our growth. Our recruitment will commence in early September and we aim to be live and connecting customers from October. We have chosen to work with 3 due to their massive value drive and range of services available”

118 Group is based in Chelmsford, with a new 350 seat call centre scheduled to open in Chelmer Village, Chelmsford from September. This central hub will allow 118trades, 118telecom and 118mobile to grow under one roof.

118 Group is preparing for a float on the AIM markets in 2007 / 2008 and has recently appointed business veteran, Richard Allan as Chairman and High Craen as a non executive director. Richard Allan was formerly CEO of Perry Group plc and Hugh Craen was Managing Director of Potential Finance plc.

118 Group includes 118trades, the UK’s leading directory service of tradespeople and businesses with checkable references and 118telecom, a connector and reseller of memorable telephone numbers along with 3 other trading divisions. The group has a call centre in Salt Lake City, Calcutta.

Founder and CEO Daniel Corby was previously sales director at mobile phone retailer phones4u and Bradley Chapman, Commercial Director was previously MD at Compass International and Sales Director at Zenith Conservatories.
