Today Vint, a new company that makes one-on-one and small group workouts fun and accessible to all, is unveiling its peer-to-peer fitness community and app in San Francisco.

We all know that gyms suck: they are impersonal, snare customers with fine-print contracts, and offer little variety beyond one-size-fits-all cardio workouts. Meanwhile, traditional personal trainers cost an average of $120 per session, even when sessions are bought in bulk. Vint is bringing fitness back to the people, by merging mobile technology with a grassroots movement composed of certified instructors and local athletes who live in our neighborhoods and have a passion for fitness or a specific sport to share with the rest of us. Through Vint, talented individuals have come together to offer a wide variety of affordable, personalized workouts that fit any goal, time constraint, fitness level, or budget. With the Vint mobile app, guided workouts can now be as spontaneous as you are, taking place when and where you want.

Vint instructors are vetted and rated through a rigorous qualification process based on their knowledge, understanding of safety, teaching ability, social skills, and passion. The Vint app allows members to view detailed descriptions of nearby workouts, send questions to instructors, and seamlessly book and pay for an in-person session, contract-free. Vint members can now sign up for the following types of workouts, with more added daily:

  • Running (Trail and Distance)

  • Yoga

  • Football Training

  • Weightlifting

  • High Intensity Interval Training

  • Tennis

  • Cardio Fitness Training

  • Bootcamps

  • Tai Chi

Vint is also offering the first $100,000 worth of personal and small group training for free to those in the San Francisco area, as part of the company’s mission to spur a new generation of community fitness. The promotion is a part of Vint’s #BetterWorkouts SF Initiative. For more information on the initiative, visit: joinvint.com/betterworkouts

“Vint redefines the outdated model of gyms and expensive trainers, and uses a mobile platform to make fitness personalized and on-demand. People don’t need to worry about planning their day around their next workout and can find great sessions, a la carte, when and where they want, at 1/6th the cost of a typical gym,” said Louise Eriksson, CEO and co-founder of Vint. “Vint is all about making fitness more accessible and more fun and we are thrilled to start with San Francisco.”

Today, the company is also announcing launch partnerships with a number of companies -- including Dropbox, Spotify, and Zendesk -- that are at the forefront of health and fitness practices and promote work-life balance. Dropbox, ZenDesk, and Spotify will be hosting Vint sessions for employees beginning August 13th. For companies interested in Vint corporate opportunities, please email us at corporate@joinvint.com .

Vint’s mission is to make the U.S.’ $65 billion fitness industry more personal, by leveraging a mobile platform that takes the middleman out of fitness. The company is led by a team of entrepreneurial veterans, tech wizards, marathoners, and world-class mountaineers. Hailing from Sweden, the company is founded by CEO Louise Eriksson, founder of Scandinavia’s largest B2B ad network AdProfit; Magnus Hult, a Spotify founding engineer; Leo Giertz, co-founder of digital gift card app Wrapp; and Arvid Janson, co-founder of Psykologifabriken and Hoa’s Tool Shop, both behavioral technology companies.
