Novant Health Helps Community Health Clinic Implement Electronic Health Record System

Novant Health recently supported Lake Norman Community Health Clinic (LNCHC) in the implementation of its own electronic health record system (EHR).

As the oldest and largest comprehensive medical provider serving the uninsured in North Mecklenburg and South Iredell counties, the implementation of the EHR system enables LNCHC to provide the highest quality of care for its patients. Since the installation, the clinic has been able to streamline their medical operations and see more of the community’s most under-served residents.  Furthermore, LNCHC can easily track patient outcomes and communicate with other providers in a more efficient and effective manner using this new technology. April Cook, executive director and co-founder of LNCHC attests to the benefits of having an EHR system, “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Novant Health in this way.  The EHR technology will enable us to enhance patient care and provide a medical home for more of our neighbors in need.”

Novant Health’s support enables LNCHC to have a single database built around its patients, which will improve the convenience and quality of care patients receive.  Most importantly, LNCHC patients will now have access to MyChart, which is an online patient communication tool that patients can use to access their medical records from anywhere, at any time.  With over 344,000 MyChart users, Novant Health understands the importance of providing remarkably convenient healthcare to its patients.

Richard Capps, MD, senior vice president of physician services for Novant Health and chief medical information officer for Novant Health medical group adds, “LNCHC’s electronic health record system will not only help its physicians provide the highest quality of care when patients need it the most, but it will enable them to become more proactive in their healthcare approach.  The clinic’s patients will now have the tools to help them be more engaged in their healthcare.  It’s the patient engagement capabilities of EHR, such as MyChart, that will take LNCHC’s patient care to the next level.”
