Aba and Shamana is a ultimately a story of the love and friendship between an unusual giant donkey named, Aba that has supernatural abilities and of Shamana, the young girl who raises him. After the death of Aba’s mother Jenna, Shamana becomes like a mother to Aba and raises him from a gangly foal to become a mammoth donkey to reach over two meters in height.

The book was inspired by the author’s research into animal cruelty where the author came across various pictures of mistreatment towards donkeys. This inspired the author to create the character Aba, a donkey who would not be easily manipulated or mistreated in a similar manner.

Aba and Shamana’s very special friendship with an equally important character Jesu, who features within the story, eventually sees Aba entrusted to protect Jesu. Aba’s despair follows his inability to protect and save the one he loves. Aba becomes homeless and while lost in the wilderness starts on his mission to find his beloved Shamana, for he knows that only Shamana’s love can heal his broken heart.

The book contains many important messages cleverly woven into its pages such as the importance of love, friendship and the value of family.

Plans for a sequel to Aba and Shamana are already in production by independent author Cynthia L. Floriani.
