SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – (June 11, 2014) – Today fitmob, the company redesigning the fitness industry for the digital age, is announcing the launch of its innovative new service, MobTribes. MobTribes provide affordable small group personal training with fitmob’s rockstar trainers at flexible times and locations for a more personalized workout session, all accessible via smartphone or online. Along with this new service fitmob will also be launching in Russian Hill and expanding to Marin County due to popular demand.

MobTribes are fitmob’s fresh take on another broken element of the fitness industry – personal training. Working with a personal trainer is a significant financial commitment, with sessions costing over $100 at most gyms, and the cost is a barrier to quality, personalized programs.

With the introduction of MobTribes, for as little as $35, fitmob offers personalized training for groups of up to six people, with an additional offering of one-on-one training available too at higher rates. Go with a group of friends or join an existing MobTribe and meet new ones. Participants select the date, time and location for one of fitmob’s rockstar trainers to meet the group for a fun, but killer workout. An hour-long training session for up to 6 people costs $35 per person and the price drops to $30 a session if you auto-renew each month. MobTribes meet their trainer and group twice a week for four weeks as they work towards their fitness goals. Sign up via the fitmob app or website at any time to create or join a Tribe.

“Since we launched in San Francisco earlier this year, 33 percent of our gym users have already left their gyms,” said Raj Kapoor, fitmob co-founder and CEO. “So to build on this we wanted to redefine the training experience by eliminating the price barrier that most consumers experience with personal training by assembling on-demand groups. This is another step in our vision of leveraging mobile and social technology advances to reinvent a decades old gym experience, which can be ineffective.”

fitmob connects top trainers with local neighborhood communities for workouts that emphasize fun over fitness and make getting in shape convenient, affordable and community focused. Breaking away from the gym membership model, fitmob rewards you for working out – the more you workout, the less you pay. Workouts start at $20 and drop in price the more you workout in a given week. Come to two workouts per week and pay $15 each. Attend three workouts a week and pay just $10 per fitmob.

As fitmob continues to grow its service offering, its geographic reach is also expanding. Earlier this year, the local Marin community put together a petition to bring fitmob to their neighborhood. fitmob listened to the Mob, and launched in Marin County on June 9th and also launched in San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood the same day. fitmob is introducing new workouts such as Hard Body, Abdomination, and FitFetish in new locations such as the Corte Madera Town Park and Strawberry Rec Field in Mill Valley, offering a blend of yoga, strength and cardio workouts. fitmob’s Russian Hill workouts hill be held at Helen Willis Park, Lombardi Sports and Alice Marble Court.

At its start, fitmob offered 30 workouts in two SF neighborhoods, and over the past four months has now expanded to 5 neighborhoods and two cities with 86 workouts per week. The fitmob community has collectively burned over 6,000,000 calories, which equates to about 7,000 chocolate bars!

The expansion to Marin County and addition of MobTribes are the next steps towards spreading fitmob throughout the Bay Area and beyond.  To learn more and become a part of the mob, visit https://www.fitmob.com/  or download the fitmob iOS app.
