WellCare Donates $10,000 To Support The Partnership Against Domestic Violence In Georgia

TAMPA, Florida, USA – WEBWIRE

WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) today announced that the WellCare Community Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV), the largest non-profit domestic violence organization in Georgia. The grant will be used to help PADV continue providing professional, compassionate and empowering support to women and children in the Atlanta metropolitan area who have been affected by domestic violence.

For almost 40 years, PADV has worked to end domestic violence by offering safety and shelter for women and their children; restoring power, self-sufficiency and control to domestic violence survivors; and by educating the public on the dynamics of domestic violence.

“WellCare makes it a priority to work with organizations like the PADV to help people more easily access the resources they need to maintain their health,” said Roman Kulich, WellCare’s region president, Georgia and South Carolina. “This work not only helps to restore lives, but it also helps to address the increasing health care costs associated with domestic violence.”

“We are dedicated to ending domestic violence and empowering those who have been affected by it to overcome their circumstances and make a difference in the world,” said Daphne Walker, president and CEO of the PADV. “Last year, we helped to transform the lives of approximately 19,000 women and children through emergency intervention, violence prevention and long-term advocacy. This would not be possible without the support of long-term partners like WellCare.”

To reach PADV’ s Metro Atlanta Crisis Lines, call 404-873-1766 in Fulton County or 770-963-9799 in Gwinnett County. Georgia residents statewide can call the 24-hour toll-free crisis line at 1-800-33-Haven (42836). For more information about PADV, and how you can get involved, visit www.padv.org.

As of January 2014, WellCare serves approximately 531,000 Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® plan members, 28,000 Medicare Advantage plan members and 50,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members in Georgia.
