Taos Ski Valley, Studio Karina Raise Nearly $30K for Women’s Health During 5th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day

TAOS SKI VALLEY, NM – Feb. 28, 2014 – With a day full of exciting activities last week, http://www.skitaos.org/ and http://www.studiokarina.com/ raised close to $30,000 for Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) and the Anita Salas Memorial Fund, during the yearly Breast Cancer Awareness Day in the ski valley.
The fifth annual celebration included a day of events that generated a new fundraising record.
 
First up was the K2 Bumps challenge, a fun and fast-paced marathon down the infamous Al’s Run. Next the Paint for Peaks Snowboard Art Auction once again featured one-of-a-kind custom artwork created on snowboards. The day concluded with a concert from critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter. K2 and Tea of a Kind were sponsors of the events.
 
“All of us at Taos Ski Valley send enormous thanks and gratitude to the locals and visitors that participated in this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Day, giving of their time and money for a very important cause,” said Adriana Blake, Taos Ski Valley administrative manager. “This event gets better ever year, and we are incredibly proud to have set a new fundraising record with our efforts. The funds will be put to great use by B4BC and the Anita Salas Memorial Fund.”
 
Artists contributing to the Paint for Peaks art auction this year included Jack Smith, Jonathan Sobol, Jim Wagner, El Moises, Randall LaGro, Ira Lujan, Lenny Foster, Greg Moon, George Chacon, Felix Vigil, Dan Vigil, Michael Vigil, Krysteen Waszak, Toby Morfin, A.C. Ward, Scripture, Sean Carpentier, Anais Rumsfeld, Addie Dore and Dennis Harroun.
 
Winning individuals from the K2 Bumps Challenge were: Michael Wagener and Gail Kennedy Winning teams were: The Mogul Mongrels – Jon Groves and Julie Kane.
 
Over the last five years the Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Taos Ski Valley has raised nearly $100,000 for B4BC and the Anita Salas Memorial Fund. B4BC is a non-profit, youth-focused education and fundraising foundation whose mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle. (The Taos Ski Valley event was part of the B4BC “Shred the Love” Fundraising Winter Series Campaign.) The Anita Salas Memorial Fund is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance for breast cancer services in New Mexico.
