ScottMadden Releases Survey Highlights from Platts Utility Supply Chain Management Conference

Atlanta, GA – WEBWIRE

ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America’s leading energy consulting firms, recently sponsored and presented at the Platts 12th Annual Utility Supply Chain Management Conference held January 20–22, 2014, in Coronado, California.

Andy Flores, partner at ScottMadden, and Benjamin Foster and Marc Miller, directors at ScottMadden, presented “Essential Strategic Levers of High-Performing Utility Supply Chains.” This session provided insights and discussions among industry professionals on the establishment and use of the strategic levers that enable high-performing utility supply chains. It also provided attendees a better understanding of how these strategic levers can drive improvements in both supply chain and customer operations.

Additionally, Stuart Pearman, partner and energy practice leader at ScottMadden, presented “The Energy Industry Update – The Impact of Current Trends and Where the Industry Is Headed.” This session featured ScottMadden’s recently released Energy Industry Update, a semi-annual publication featuring ScottMadden’s view of recent significant events and emerging trends. Conference attendees had the opportunity to participate in the initial installment of an ongoing survey examining the role played by the supply chain organization in a company’s overall strategy. To that end, 90% responded that their companies had supply chain strategies. Among those with strategies, 78% said they had executive buy-in for their supply chain strategy. Further, the top four drivers referenced as influencing supply chain strategies were: customer expectations and requirements (67%), corporate strategy (67%), supply chain leading practices (56%), and cost control (56%). The results of the survey point to positive improvements in the level of alignment between supply chain organizations and the larger enterprises (internal business unit customers) they support.
