Rapper Kris Warren Filming Music Therapy Documentary in Los Angeles and New York

Earlier this month Chicago rapper Kris Warren headed back to California to resume filming for the documentary Music Is My Therapy.  Having already secured footage in Jacksonville, Chicago, San Jose, and Pasadena, Warren took the show on the road to Santa Ana, CA and Santa Clarita, CA to meet with Music Therapists Tim Ringgold, Kat Fulton and Jessica Brizuela.  
 
“I have a lot of passion for what I do musically and in the business world. To be surrounded by individuals like Tim, Kat, and Jessica that also have a high passion level for what they do makes the filming process very organic and enjoyable.” Warren explained.
 
Jessica, the very first Music Therapist to be filmed for the documentary back in September of 2013, has made some professional strides since the first interview.  She recently became certified in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT). 
 
“There are many parallels between music therapy and neuroscience. Earning my NMT certification was such an exciting experience because it gave me solid research-based techniques for me to use in my practice, giving my practice more of a scientific approach in the rehabilitation of my clients.” Jessica said speaking on her accomplishment.  
 
Ringgold and Fulton who collectively have over 13 years of experience as Music Therapist founded Empower U Academy last year.  After a few years in business for themselves, Tim and Kat stumbled upon the age-old truism for clinicians and therapists alike “Clinical skills don’t pay the bills.”  By joining forces at Empower U Academy, they have created an online and offline platform to teach the precious business skills that clinicians and therapists don’t receive during their formal education.
 
Speaking on the documentary Tim Said "When I first joined LinkedIn upon becoming a professional, I gave myself the title Ambassador of Music Therapy.  Ever since, I have sought platforms from which to share the value and importance of music therapy is a clinical tool to be utilized with patients from infants to the elderly. 
 
Music therapy can no longer be ’the best kept secret’ in healthcare. It needs to be shouted from the rooftops!  Therefore, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to once again shout out music therapy" he concludes.  
 
Warren will continue filming this weekend in New York City.
