Casio Rocks Out at Winter NAMM 2014 With The Release of Two New iOS Apps

Chordana Tap and Viewer Apps Allow Apple Users to Play Along and Learn Their Favorite Songs

ANAHEIM, CA – Casio America, Inc., the leading manufacturer in the electronic musical instrument industry, is excited to announce the launch of two new apps-Chordana Tap and Chordana Viewer. Designed for all iOS devices, including the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, the Chordana Tap and Viewer applications will be exhibited in Casio’s booth (#5900) during Winter NAMM at the Anaheim Convention Center, January 23-26, 2014.

Employing Casio’s proprietary Chordana music analysis technology, the apps can detect musical chord progressions by analyzing the frequency characteristics and temporal changes of an audio file. The apps automatically select chords that most closely match the compositional character of a piece of music. Users can then play along as an accompanist when playing back songs stored in an iPhone or other devices.

“We’re very excited to introduce the Chordana Tap and Viewer apps for Casio music lovers worldwide,” said Mike Martin, General Manager of Casio’s Electronic Musical Instrument Division. “In its continuous effort to bring the fun of music to more people, Casio has made the most of its electronic musical instrument technologies by developing these two new apps for iOS devices, which are designed to pair with our industry-leading digital pianos and synthesizers.”

The Chordana Tap app is a free version of Casio’s music analysis technology and lets users play along with their favorite songs on a virtual instrument on their Apple device. The app works great for people with or without experience playing an instrument, allowing them to enjoy jamming out to their favorite songs simply by tapping the virtual instruments on the screen along with a musical accompaniment guide. Chordana Tap is also equipped with a function for evaluating the results of the performed accompaniment according to five musical styles: pop, rock, Latin, dance and jazz. Four virtual instrument sounds are available to choose from and a rhythm to match the song can also be selected. Additional musical instrument sounds and rhythm patterns can be purchased in the Apple store.

Like Chordana Tap, users can choose from four virtual instrument sounds with the potential to purchase more. Other features include the ability to modify and save chord charts, record a performance, and adjust vocals and accompaniment during playback, which is a useful function for learning to play by ear. MIDI compatible musical instruments can also be connected to the application.

In addition the two new Chordana apps, Casio has redesigned its MIDI Designer XW application to provide a better user experience. Several cosmetic enhancements have been made to the platform to make it graphically more appealing and easier for users to navigate. The functions that allow users to build labels, lines, panels, colors and other tools have been transformed to incorporate a style that embodies Casio and matches the look of its products.

The Chordana Tap app is free and the Chordana Viewer app is $9.99 for all iOS users. Both are now available alongside the MIDI Designer XW app in the Apple store.
