Unleashing market forces by competition with traditional colleges to lower their tuition costs.

“In five to 10 years, widespread acceptance of MOOCs promises the elimination of high-cost college tuition for the first two years of a college education.”

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Dec. 6, 2013) – EDUcourses, an Internet-based higher education company, announced today a list of college-level courses being converted into massive open online courses – popularly called MOOCs – that will be priced from $19.95 to $49.95.

“The efficiencies of MOOC course-delivery systems enable EDUcourses to offer the equivalent of two years of college at tuition of less than $999, thereby making higher education much more affordable,” said Dr. Richard Bishirjian, president of EDUcourses, which is headquartered in Gainesville, Fla.

EDUcourses will begin offering MOOCs in 2014 on a not-for-credit, self-study basis that emphasize acquisition of knowledge about limited government, the Constitution of the United States, free market Economics, and other subjects necessary for responsible citizenship.

The MOOCs scheduled for launch in 2014 will be converted from an earlier version of Internet-based classes that were created by more than 40 leading conservative scholars in the fields of government, economics, business and liberal arts and tested by their students, Bishirjian said.

“We tested these courses with students and edited them when necessary to make them effective for online learning, so when you visit our MOOC “demo” you’ll see that course content is manageable without spending hours online,” Bishirjian said.

Also, Bishirjian said, all readings may be accessed via the Internet, many are free and none require purchase of hard copies of books or expensive textbooks. All courses include recorded lectures that are accompanied by transcripts, he added.

“MOOCs make for a revolution in the pricing of college tuition that promises to compete on the basis of price and quality with a typical two-year college curriculum,” Bishirjian said. “In five to 10 years, widespread acceptance of MOOCs promises the elimination of high-cost college tuition for the first two years of a college education.”
