PRO Compression Sponsored, Ryan Blaum, Wins 60th Aberto do Brasil, PGA Latina American Tour

On October 20th, 2013 Ryan Blaum became the champion of the 60th Aberto do Brasil after he defeated Argentina’s Alan Wagner on the first hole of the sudden-death playoff.  This victory put Ryan in second place in Order of Merit.

The tournament took place at the Gavea Golf & CC in Rio de Janiero where Blaum and Wagner were separated from the rest of the field while the two of them battled for the title. The two were tied for the win at 10 under through 70 holes while they still had a par 4 and a par 5 to play.

Blaum said he had a lot of fun at the tour in Rio, and he enjoyed his win on a very scenic course that was partially rain forest and mountain with the rest of the area being on the beach.

Whether Blaum is playing or practicing, he always wears the low-cut PRO Compression athletic socks and says, “I can’t imagine myself wearing anything other than PRO Compression now.”

In the final round of the tournament in Rio, Blaum birdied the 17th hole and parred 18, putting him a playoff position.

In late May, Blaum also won in the Dominican Republic tournament, and finished 2nd in Lima, Peru as well as Santiago, Chile. His status for next year’s PGA Web.com Tour is locked in as the top 5 on the Order of Merit. Blaum’s goal is to make the Olympic golf team for 2016, and winning the tournament in Rio is a good start.

The 60th Aberto do Brasil was the first event the PGA TOUR has ever played in Rio de Janiero and was presented by Credit Suisse Heding-Griffo.
