118 trades seeks ’investors in people status’ as it creates 400 new jobs

Daniel Corby, founder and CEO of 118 Group is seeking ‘investors in people’ status for the fast growing business as it prepares to recruit 400 new people for the group’s growth.

Founded in 2005 by Daniel Corby, 118 Group is embarking on the biggest phase of its expansion yet, as it seeks to grow the directory business 118 trades, the telecoms arm – 118telecom, the wedding portal 118gethitched and also merge the latest acquisition, Car Auto into the groups trading.

Speaking about the announcement, Daniel Corby said “We have built a very successful business in a short period of time, and we are now keen to grow the group’s activities on a major scale commencing from September.

I recognise that the business is only as good as its people and in today’s increasingly tough labour environment, recruiting and retaining key people to the business is more important than ever. It is for this reason that 118 Group is serious about gaining Investors in People status over the coming months and we have today started the ball rolling. This backs up our whole ethos of improving the business through people, we have launched a 1st class training and development programme, hired an HR Manager from Deutsche Bank who is superb (Jaynie Vincent) and are now seeking this Investors in People status. 118 trades is the largest trading division of the group, and there will be a massive demand for good people for this part of the business. Telesales is a tough environment, but we are delighted to have one of the lowest labour turnover levels in the industry with our top performers having over 18 months service and many of them having started with the business in its very early days. Our commitment to Investors in People will roll out across all of our trading divisions including 118 telecom and 118 trades”

118 trades last month announced the opening a 450 seat state of the art customer contact centre in Chelmer Village, which will be a key part of the business growth strategy going forward.
