EMSL Will Host a Free Mold Sampling Webinar

EMSL Analytical, Inc. will be hosting “The Basics of Mold Sampling for an IAQ Investigation” free webinar on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM EST. Dr. Jason Dobranic, EMSL Analytical, Inc.’s Vice President of Microbiology and Life Sciences, will host the webinar and discuss different methodologies for mold sampling.

The webinar will cover the following topics:

• Basic sampling methods advantages and disadvantages 
• How to choose a sampling method 
• Non-culturable air sampling: Spore Traps 
• Collection efficiency considerations 
• Culturable air sampling: Andersen, RCS, SAS, AGI 
• Direct Examination Surface Samples: Tapes, Swabs, Bulks 
• PCR lab analysis (what can it do) 
• ERMI (Environmental Relative Moldiness Index) 
• Shipping considerations for each type of sample 

Dr. Dobranic is an accomplished microbiologist with over 20 years experience. He has presented his research at national and international conferences. Dr. Dobranic has also presented microbial issues at over 60 national speaking engagements and has several industry-related articles published in trade magazines. Dr. Dobranic appeared in a production of the Oprah Winfrey show as an expert on bacteria and indoor allergens.

Dr. Dobranic is currently a member of ASTM International, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (Past-chair of the Biosafety and Environmental Microbiology Committee), AIHA’s LQAP Analytical Accreditation Board and Mold Task Force, and A2LA’s Accreditation Council. He is a member of the local Houston IAQA chapter, a Research Committee member for the national IAQA, and serves on boards for the ACAC and IESO.
