Lung Cancer Awareness Month Sheds Light on Airborne Carcinogens

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American Lung Association, it is the second-most commonly diagnosed cancer and the most common cause of death due to cancer. Unfortunately, many people do not know they have lung cancer until the condition is in its later stages.

When people breathe certain contaminants they can cause damage to people’s lungs. Cells in the lungs can mutate and result in lung cancer. Protecting one’s lungs from these contaminants is one way that people can protect their health and reduce their risk of developing lung cancer.
