Acorn Previews Two Exclusive DVD Releases: Line of Duty S1 and High Stakes

Line of Duty Series 1 and High Stakes Series 1 and 2 are only available from the Acorn online store. As if that wasn’t enough, they’re also available for prices that have been slashed from their recommended retail prices.

They are just the latest in a long line of exclusive special offers which have made Acorn an increasingly popular choice for fans of Great British TV.

Line of Duty Series 1 is available right now, exclusively to Acorn, and will not be available anywhere else until 2014. The show stars Lennie James as Detective Chief Inspector Tony Gates, the star of Scotland Yard, but also the prime suspect in the force’s anticorruption case. It’s up to Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott, played by Martin Compston, to bring Gates to justice. But in doing so he’ll need to put his career, and his life, on the line.

The BBC enjoyed great success with Line of Duty and a second series is on the way. Controversy has struck, however, as incoming star Robert Lindsay was reported to have walked out on the show after two days of filming. He cited creative differences and pocketed £50,000 for his troubles. Fans can pick up their copy of Line of Duty Series 1 for a lot less. Better yet, they’ll get their hands on a copy before it is available anywhere else.

High Stakes is the highly rated, yet short lived sitcom about investment bankers in the big city. The show stars British comedy legend Richard Wilson as the bank’s MD Bruce Morton, who’s thrown head-first into a conflict with the new incoming Chairman Nicholas Quinn played by Jack Shepherd.

 Quinn recognises the need to revamp the traditional old bank but Morton sees things very differently. In the middle, there’s the young high flyer Greg Hayden (Jason O’Mara); who’s torn between his boss, Morton, and the new guy.

Series 2 of High Stakes never made it onto TV screens but it is available here as part of this fantastic 2 disc set. High Stakes Series 1 and 2 on DVD is only available from Acorn and is available for less than half price.
