From classic comedies of the seventies, eighties and nineties to dramas and award winning documentaries, the sale is an embarrassment of riches with something for everybody.

The BBC has already been at the forefront of programming in the UK, but their fantastic shows are also popular all over the world; including in the USA.

This appeal has helped Acorn to enjoy success with customers across the globe. Now UK shoppers are heading to Acorn to take advantage of low prices on brilliant BBC DVDs.

Great British comedy is renowned the world over and some of the biggest milestones in BBC Comedy history can now be purchased at Acorn for a fraction of their recommended retail price.

There’s Absolutely Fabulous and One Foot in The Grave, or more vintage titters in Porridge starring Ronnie Barker. Then there’s the digitally remastered DVD presentation of Blackadder Goes Forth starring comedy luminaries like Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie and Tony Robinson.

Political satire The Thick Of It stars the next Doctor Who Peter Capaldi, and fans of the Time Lord can purchase Doctor Who: The Ambassadors of Death, starring classic Doctor Jon Pertwee for half price.

Not everything available in the sale is played for laughs. Customers will find the original Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the mini-series House of Cards which spawned an all-new US remake. Recent adaptations of Charles Dicken’s Great Expectations and Bleak House are also available. Macho men could even choose Sean Bean’s turn in the Bravo Two Zero.

Of course, it doesn’t get grittier or more harrowing than Ross Kemp Back on the Frontline and fans of non-fiction are well catered for in the Acorn BBC sale.
For decades David Attenborough has introduced us to the wonders of the natural world from the comfort of our own homes. Here, shoppers can purchase the Blue Planet Box Set or recent series Africa to name just a few. They can also explore Egypt’s Lost Cities, or stay much closer to home with River Cottage.

It doesn’t get any further from home than Wonders of the Solar System with Prof Brian Cox; and viewers can travel back in time with more fascinating insight from David Attenborough in Flying Monsters.
