Formula BMW Talent Cup

Munich (DE). Just one and a half months after the successful finale to the 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup, which shared the bill with the DTM in Oschersleben (DE), preparations for the 2014 season are already in full swing. Test sessions at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz (DE) recently saw six kart drivers from four countries complete their first outings at the wheel of the Formula BMW FB02, which will be used during the subsequent training programme. Next up are tests held at three racetracks in Spain. Only a few places are still available for the first of the three events at the Circuito de Calafat (ES, 15th – 17th November). Registration is possible via the form attached or on the BMW Motorsport website at www.formula-bmw.com.

Ambitious young drivers can also enrol for further tests on 29th/30th November at the Monteblanco Circuit (ES) and from 30th January to 2nd February 2014 at the Circuito de Cartagena (ES). The actual training that forms such an instrumental part of the Formula BMW Talent Cup begins in spring 2014 and once again features comprehensive practical and theory units, designed to sustainably prepare the talented youngsters for a career in professional motorsport. Over the course of the 2014 season, up to seven official races will take place on the support programme for two international racing events. At the end of the season, an attractive prize purse of 150,000 Euros will be divided among the top three drivers.

Those wanting evidence of just what an outstanding training programme the Formula BMW Talent Cup is for a successful career in more advanced single-seater classes need look no further than the careers of the winners since the programme was launched in 2011. While 2011 champion Stefan Wackerbauer (DE) has lined up in the Formula Renault 2.0 Europacup for the last two years, his successor Marvin Dienst (DE) ended the latest season of the ADAC Formula Masters as the second-best rookie in fifth place overall. Maximilian Günther, Formula BMW Talent Cup graduate from 2011 also finished second in this series. As well as Dienst and Günther, a further four Formula BMW Talent Cup graduates lined up successfully in the 2013 ADAC Formula Masters.
