Toronto flight launched

Saudia launched its first flight to the Canadian city of Toronto on Monday October 28, 2013. The flight took off from King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh and later from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah after the airline made necessary arrangements at Toronto International Airport in Canada where it has opened an office with advanced facilities and experienced employees.

Saudia’s first flight landed in Toronto airport at 1020 a.m. It carried a team of senior Saudia officials headed by Mr. Al-Molhem. Mr. Abdullah Al-Ajhar, EVP Public Relations, 14 managers and staff of Saudi travel agencies.


The flight was welcomed by a group of 75 people headed by Mrs. Hazel McCalion, Mayor of Mississauga (the city where Toronto International Airport is located), Greater Toronto Airport Authority Vice President Howard Bohan, Saudi Charge d’Affaires Yousef Abuaish, and Saudia General Manager for North & South America Abdullah Alhuwaivi, as well as Toronto tourism officials and business representatives.


There were 188 passengers on the first flight from Saudi Arabia while the first outbound flight back to Jeddah and Riyadh carried 178.


An Inaugural Reception was held the following day at the Trump Tower in downtown Toronto, attended by 175 guests.


Saudia will operate three flights weekly from Saudi Arabia to Toronto on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The direct flight will take thirteen and a half hours to reach Toronto.


The outgoing flight SV0061 will take off from Riyadh and pass by Jeddah to reach Toronto while the return flight SV0060 will arrive in Jeddah first before reaching its final destination of Riyadh.


Saudia will operate B777-200 aircraft for its Toronto flights. The aircraft has 24 seats for First Class, 38 for Business Class and 170 for Guest Class. The aircraft with highly comfortable seating facilities is provided with advanced audio and visual entertainment systems.
