“Fire Eyes”, First Terrorism Novel Now an eBook

WEBWIRE

Victoria, Canada — October 23, 2013 — “Fire Eyes”, the first of D. F. Bailey’s psychological thrillers has been released by Catchword Publishing as an ebook.

In 1987, “Fire Eyes” was a finalist for the W. H. Smith First Novel Award. The title is derived from the name of an army bomb unit that trains and deploys demolition specialists. Based on patients Bailey encountered when he worked in a psychiatric hospital, the novel exposes the inner world of urban terrorists.

Terrorism Novels
One of the original “terrorism novels,” “Fire Eyes” is more relevant today than when it was first published. “In the 70s and 80s we witnessed terrorists operating like wild west gangs,” says Bailey. “Remember the SLA? They were notorious for armed robberies and kidnappings. Now we suffer from a more international phenomenon. That’s the world revealed in “Fire Eyes”: micro-cell terrorists who are loyal to a global cause — but inflict their damage at home.”

Psychological Thrillers Best Sellers
In many terrorism thrillers the human factor is often buried under technical details, puzzle-piece planning, and precision timing. “Instead, ‘Fire Eyes’ focuses on the psychological conflict of the main character, Billy Deerborn,” says Bailey. “Like most psychological thrillers that become best sellers, the human story is shown through an external struggle. The result is psychological suspense with the ramped-up tension of a military thriller.”
