Roofing Trends in 2014

Asphalt roofing will continue to be the most used roofing material. An estimated 80% of homes use Asphalt roofing, the demand will continue to grow. The type of a Asphalt roofing used will see a shift.  Laminated Asphalt shingles are expected to see a large jump in popularity.
 
While commercial roofing companies have been moving toward more green options for some time, homeowners will now begin to see these trends also.  California Energy Commission has made the leap with new energy efficient standards for all new residential and commercial buildings. From January 1, 2014, all new buildings must have solar-ready roofs. More green and energy efficient roofs will be in demand across the country.
 
Light color roofing is continuing to be an increasing trend in 2014. Light roofing absorbs less heat from the sun and can help control heating and cooling costs. Pantone, a world renowned authority on color, has released it’s Spring 2014 color report. There will be a resurgence in warm neutrals. Blues, grays, off whites, and other warm neutrals will carry into roofing as well as home décor.  Warm wood tones found in cedar shingles will also be on trend in Twin Cities roofing.
