September 27th – 29th
UCI SX World Cup #5/
USABMX Hall of Fame National
Chula Vista, California

The GT Bicycles Factory BMX team finished up its UCI Supercross season at the series finale in Chula Vista California this weekend. The highlights of the event for team were the impressive results put in by Junior team members Felicia Stancil and Sean Gaian.

Stancil, a second year Junior at 18 years of age, proved that she will be a force to be reckoned with by winning Women’s Super Time Trial and all of her qualifying rounds. A bobble out of the gate in the final kept her from getting on the podium but her performance has everyone talking that she will be the one to beat in 2014.

Teammate Sean Gaian was one of the youngest and smallest competitors in the men’s field but age and size did not hinder him as he went of to make the Men’s Time Trial Super Final and rode well in qualifying but came up short to move on into the final rounds. The impressive performances by Felicia and Sean reaffirm the fact that these two are the future BMX racing.

The GT squad was well represented at the event with members of its global team in attendance with Joris Daudet (FRA), Quentin Caleyron (FRA), Martijn Jaspers (NED), Romain Riccardi (ITA), Jordan Miranda (USA) and Nick Koehler (USA). All raced well and were looking to make their way into the finals but it was not their day.

In conjunction with the UCI event, USABMX held is Hall of Fame National for the amateur athletes on the Chula Vista BMX local track. It too carried an international field of competitors ranging in age from the 5 and under to 60 and over with skill levels from novice to expert. Doing double duty was Jordan Miranda who raced the SX event Saturday then decided to gate up on the “small track” Sunday. With no practice on the amateur track he showed his bike talents by adapting to the smaller start hill and obstacles and proceeded to take 2nd behind the current National #1 rider Rusty Nesvig. Very impressive riding from Miranda.

Also representing the team at the amateur event were Brooklyn VanReselaar (6 Girls), Jack Kelly (10 Expert) and Jonas Harmon (31 Expert). Each took their GT Speed Series bikes to the podium with Jack leading the way with wins in 9-10 Open and 10 Expert both days. He was followed by Jonas Harmon who came away with a win in 31-35 Cruiser and a 2nd in Expert. The team’s spunky lil’ darling Brooklyn had to battle with some girls who towered over her but showed her determination by hauling in a 3rd place.

It was a great weekend on and off the track for the GT BMX Factory Team and now look to head east for the USABMX Disney Cup in Orlando Florida October 25th – 27th.

The 2013 GT Factory BMX Team would like to thank its amazing sponsors who make it possible to perform at their best; Alpine Stars, GoPro, Troy Lee Designs, Tioga, Alienation, SDG, Lizard Skins, KMC, Skullcandy, BOX Components, Promax, Only Protein and Stasis Number Plates & Bike Stands
