“Pay-What-You-Want” - every Friday in the Red Dot Design Museum

“How much is a visit to the Red Dot Design Museum worth to you?” As of now, visitors can answer this question once a week: the “Pay-What-You-Want” promotion offers guests the possibility to decide on the admission fee on their own on Fridays.

Already in March 2013, under the motto “Pay-What-You-Want”, the Red Dot Design Museum invited visitors to decide on the admission fee on their own. Now, the house repeats the successful promotion for all design enthusiasts and those who want to become it – as of now every Friday.

With the flexible admission fee model, the Red Dot Design Museum wants to increase curiosity for the 2,000 exhibits comprising exhibition and to introduce design newcomers to the fascinating world of good creation. Because: Nearly everything that surrounds us in our day-to-day life is design. Visitors can experience the entire range of current product design in the former boiler house of UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein: Innovative and well-shaped everyday objects from about 45 nations document international trends, illustrate cultural specifics and invite the guests to touch and test.

All of the objects, which can be discovered on an exhibition area of 4,000 square metres, received a prize in the Red Dot Design Award, one of the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world. Between the poles of old and new, latest product culture and historic industrial architecture, the Red Dot Design Museum presents outstanding everyday items in an altogether different light.
