EMC Insignia Solution for Data Protection Honored by CMP’s VARBusiness Magazine

WEBWIRE

Hopkinton, Mass.-Monday, August 7, 2006, EMC Corporation today announced that the EMC Insignia Solution for Data Protection was named a VARBusiness Best Midmarket Product of the Year by CMP Media’s VARBusiness magazine. This fully integrated solution consists of the new EMC CLARiiON AX150 and AX150i networked storage systems and EMC Retrospect for Windows backup and recovery software, delivering fast, easy-to-manage data protection for branch office, midmarket, and small and medium business (SMB) customers’ servers, desktops and laptop computers.

The biweekly magazine that provides strategic insight to technology integrators solicited input from information-technology (IT) vendors and solution providers to determine which products and services were best for midmarket customers – companies with between 100 and 999 employees. Entries were considered and reviewed by VARBusiness editors who selected only 45 of the more than 350 nominated products.

The EMC Insignia Solution for Data Protection is featured and profiled in the special August 7 VARBusiness “Best of the Midmarket” issue.

“Our readers tell us that the middle market is one of the fastest-growing IT categories today,” says VARBusiness Publisher Robert C. DeMarzo. “The EMC Insignia Solution for Data Protection is one that best meets that segment’s needs.”

Larry Zulch, Vice President and General Manager, EMC Insignia, said, “Having the EMC Insignia Solution for Data Protection honored by VARBusiness is particularly gratifying because of EMC’s respect for the magazine’s insight into market segments addressed by VARs and solution providers. This honor validates that the combination of our best-in-class EMC CLARiiON AX150 networked storage system and award winning EMC Retrospect backup and recovery software offers a solution that meets the real needs of branch offices and SMBs. These customers demand an easy-to-use and affordable capability to protect their critical information wherever it is and this solution delivers exactly that.”

EMC Insignia is a line of hardware and software products that enable SMBs and branch offices to store, manage, protect and share their vital business information. Further information on EMC Insignia products is available on www.emcinsignia.com.
