Midsomer Murders Meets The Killing

Midsomer Murders is celebrating its 100th episode in Scandinavian Noir style, as DCI Barnaby heads to Copenhagen to mark the milestone.

The beloved British crime drama is joining forces with the producers of Denmark’s own seminal crime show The Killing. The episode will mark the first occasion that Midsomer Murders has been shot outside of the UK.

As well as reigning supreme in British TV listings, the long running ITV series is also extremely popular in Denmark, where it is known as Barnaby. In the special 100th episode, Neil Dudgeon’s DCI Barnaby leads DS Nelson, played by newcomer Gwilym Lee, to Denmark where a body has been discovered which links back to a family of Midsomer residents.

The episode entitled, The Killings at Copenhagen, has also cast two popular Danish actresses, Ann Eleonora Jorgensen from The Killing and Birgitte Hjort Sorensen of Borgen.

Denmark’s public service broadcaster, DR, will produce the episode which will form a part of Midsomer Murders Series 16.

In another nice touch for fans of the show, the UK scenes which form a part of the episode will be mark a return to the fictional village of Badger’s Drift: the location of the show’s first ever murder.
