Orkney islands added to About Argll Walking Holiday’s island destinations
About Argyll Walking Holidays has added to the many island destinations it visits by launching a new walking tour and a new walking holiday to the islands of Orkney. Ready for summer 2014 the Orkney walking tour offers a mixture of easy walks and visits to places of interest like Maeshowe, Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar and the massive Midhowe Chambered Cairn on Rousay. The Orkney walking holiday takes in these sites as well, but also offers longer walks of around 7 to 16 miles.
“Orkney is dubbed the ‘Egypt of the North’ because of its amazing historic and ancient monuments. That, together with its dramatic coastlines, beautiful beaches and abundant wildlife make it a great place for a walking holiday’, says Frieda Bos, owner of About Argyll Walking Holidays.
The walking tour will run from 19th to 26th July and the walking holiday from 28th June to 5th July.
“These new additions to our walking programme mean that we will offer trips to both Orkney and Shetland next year. We’ve especially scheduled our visits to these islands so that you can visit both over a two week period!” says Frieda.
All of the walks are led by a qualified, well-informed and welcoming guide and the base for both trips is a carefully selected bed and breakfast in Kirkwall.
About Argyll Walking Holidays, as the name suggests, started in Argyll in Scotland. Since 1995 it has run high-quality, essentially personal walking tours there, building up a reputation for care and quality. Deliberately small-scale, it has created a community of its client group, many of whom quickly become friends.
