Moscow 6 September 2013: MEDEX Spot of Potomac, MD has entered into negotiations with InterMedService of Moscow to build a manufacturing plant near Moscow to produce the MEDEX Spot Unmanned Micro Clinic for the Russian primary healthcare market.

The manufacturing facility will license MEDEX Spot technology to produce up to 2,000 MEDEX Cabins per year to enable Russia to achieve a target of 10,000 MEDEX Spot cabins deployed across the country from Moscow to Vladivostok.

Intermedservice will initially purchase 24 MEDEX spot cabins from VideoKall for a pilot system in the Moscow area pending construction of the manufacturing facility.

The MEDEX spot system will include a satellite delivery network provided by Intersputnik to connect cabins even in the remotest rural area with regional medical call centres staffed by medical practitioners.

The new system will enable millions of Russians in rural areas to have hospital quality healthcare thanks to the MEDEX spot cabins equipped with TV quality video and robotic medical equipment which will enable medical staff at medical call centers to both see and examine patients remotely and quickly diagnose their condition.

Natalia Vadimovna Ushakova, General Director of Intermedservice welcomed the agreement and said “It is my wish to bring quality healthcare to every man, woman and child in Russia and I believe that the cooperation between the USA, Belgium and the Russian federation in this new technology will enable Russia to be at the forefront of primary healthcare and make us equal if not better than healthcare being offered in G20 countries. Our plan to manufacture this new medical technology in Russia will make us self supporting in telemedicine.”

Vince Waterson, Chairman of VideoKall Inc the company which has developed the MEDEX Spot Unmanned Micro Clinic welcomed the business opportunity and said “I recognize Dr. Ushakova as a visionary in healthcare and we are honored that she has selected the MEDEX Spot system to make quality primary healthcare available to everyone in Russia. We will be working hard with Intermedservice to enable them to become a self sufficient Telehealth equipment production and service provider within the next couple of years.”
